Visiting For the First Time

.

Welcome to St. Stephen’s!

We are a welcoming Lutheran congregation in Hicksville. We gather each Sunday for worship, fellowship, learning, and service, and we are glad to have you with us today.  If you’re visiting for the first time, introduce yourself after worship. We’d love to meet you and answer any questions.  Visitors are never asked to stand, introduce themselves during the service, or make a donation.

Here are a few notes to help you feel more at home participating in our worship:

Worship– Each Sunday’s service is printed in this bulletin. Parts in bold indicate responses by everyone in which you are invited to participate.  The service usually runs for about an hour.

Communion – Lutheran Christians believe that the Lord Jesus Christ feeds us with his true body and blood “in, with, and under” the bread and wine in the Lord’s Supper. All baptized Christians who receive Communion in their own churches are welcome to receive the sacrament. Please note that the darker wine is non-alcoholic and is available from the Lector. Communion will be distributed continuously, in procession. Please come forward as directed by the ushers.

Children – Children are always welcome at worship. During the sermon, children are invited to participate in a brief children’s message based on the day’s lesson.

Dress – We invite all to join us for worship regardless of outward appearance.  There is no formal dress code although we ask that your attire be respectful.

Parking – Our parking lot is at the back of the church with an entrance on Grand Avenue.  There are handicap spaces available for those who need it.

Coffee Hour – We hope that you will join us for coffee and conversation in the lobby following the worship service.

Accessibility – For those who have mobility issues, there is an elevator from the lobby to the sanctuary

If you have any questions during your visit, please ask an usher or any member of the congregation—we are happy to help!
